Memphis-February 4, 2009-Prize Fight Promotions are raking up their air miles this week with two mega fight events on opposite sides of the world. On February 6th ESPN's Friday Night Fights presents light heavyweight Yusef Mack against NABF Champion Chris Henry in a 12 round-title match up at the Wicomico Civic Center in Salisbury MD. Appearing for the second time in less than a year in front of his hometown fans is Prize Fights raising star UNDEFEATED Dominican middleweight Fernando Guerrero 12-0, 11KO?s. Guerrero will go head to head with Gabriel Rosado 10-2, 6KO's in an 8 round match up. Don't blink, given Guerrero?s track record this might not go the distance.
Guerrero's last outing in front of his hometown drew a crowd of over 6,000 fans, leaving ShoBox commentator Nick Charles in awe of the turn out saying "We've done fights in just about every state and overseas but this place is unsurpassed. I've never heard a crowd that surpasses this."
Middleweight Shawn Porter 4-0, 4KO's will make his TV debut in a 4 rounder against Cory Jones 4-3,1KO. Rounding out the card is Farah Ennis 8-0, 4KO's vs. Chris Archer 10-5, 6KO?s in a 6 round super middleweight clash, and making his pro debut is Middleweight Dominic Wade. Wade made it all the way to the 2007 Olympic trials but fell short of making the team.
Two UNDEFEATED champions go head to head in a no holds barred slugfest one defending his title the other coming to take it away. Saturday February 7th in Puerto Madryn Argentina, NABO UNDEFEATED Rayonta “Stingray” Whitfield 22-0, 11KO's and UNDEFEATED WBO Flyweight Champion Argentinean native Omar “El Huracan” Andres Narvaez 28-0, 17KO's, will fight to see who is the true champion of the flyweight division.
Expect fireworks this weekend as Whitfield threatens to destroy Narvaez's 13 straight title defenses and take away the belt. Narvaez will have his hands full with the quick and cunning highly touted 27 yr old Whitfield.
“It?s going to be an exciting fight, I can't wait. My training camp was the best I have ever had we have a iron clad plan of how to defeat Narvaez, I am in it to win it”-Rayonta Whitfield
