13/8 Courtney Fry
4/1 Carl Dilks
5/1 Bob Ajisafe and Tony Oakey
6/1 Billy Boyle
8/1 Steve Spartacus
18/1 Darren Stubbs
25/1 Shon Davies
THE DRAW
Quarter-finals
1. Courtney Fry v Shon Davies
2. Tony Oakey v Billy Boyle
3. Bob Ajisafe v Carl Dilks
4. Darren Stubbs v Steve Spartacus
Semi-finals
5. Fry or Davies v Oakey or Boyle
6. Ajisafe or Dilks v Stubbs or Spartacus
Final
7. Winner of fight 5 v winner of fight 6
As you can see, with three undefeated fighters in the line up, added to former amateur star (and pre tournament favourite) Courtney Fry, experienced Tony Oakey and the experienced Steve Spartacus this is a fantastic line up. So, lets get to the action and see how Boxing Capital see’s the action panning out:
QUARTER FINALS
Courtney Fry v Shon Davies
Expect Fry to be too sharp and well school for a game but overmatched Davies here. Fry to take a clear points decision. Fry to win on points @ 4/11
Tony Oakey v Billy Boyle
The fight of the quarter finals pits former champion Oakey against the undefeated and highly rated Boyle. For me, this format suits Oakey perfectly and he will come out quickly and not let up. Oakey’s experience at a higher level will lead him to a hard fought but well deserved points win. Oakey to win @ 5/6
Bob Ajisafe v Carl Dilks
Two undefeated fighters meet in an interesting bout. Although I don’t see Dilks as a genuine Light Heavy he should know too much here and take a points win over Ajisafe. Dilks to win @ 4/6
Darren Stubbs v Steve Spartacus
The three round format should also suit Spartacus, who always comes to fight. Whilst Spartacus is not the force he once was, he should still be too strong for Stubbs. Spartacus to win @ 8/13
SEMI FINALS
Courtney Fry v Tony Oakey
A brilliant clash of style with Fry the boxer against rough and rugged Oakey. Over 8 or 10 rounds my money would go on Fry every time but I think a relentless Oakey can sustain unparalleled pressure here for three rounds to take a tight points verdict, upsetting the tournament favourite. Oakey to Win
Carl Dilks v Steve Spartacus
Another cracking match up here but this time, the favourite should prevail. Expect another exciting contest with the fresher Dilks just about coming though and taking a tight, possibly disputed verdict. Dilks to Win
THE FINAL
Tony Oakey v Carl Dilks
A lot will depend on how much the semi finals have taken out of these fighters. I think Dilks will have had a more physically tougher semi against the relentless Spartacus and therefore I see Oakey grinding out a points win to take the title and £25,000!
