Kell Brook vs. Stuart Elwell - Boxing Betting Tip

Sheffield’s unbeaten precocious talent, Kell Brook, defends his British welterweight title for the second time on Friday 30th January 2009 against Walsall’s Stuart Elwell (12-3, 1 KO) at London’s historic York Hall.
Brook has notched 18 straight wins (11 inside the distance) and whilst he has long been rated as a top prospect, his last two fights have seen him confirm himself to be one of, if not the, hottest boxing talent on British shores.
If the way Brook stopped Welshman Barrie Jones in 7 rounds back in June 2008 to win the title was impressive, the manner in which Brook stopped former British Champion Kevin McIntyre inside the opener (on McIntyre’s home ground of Glasgow, Scotland) was nothing short of astounding. McIntyre remember is a man with an awkward style and good boxing ability but Brook was able to blow him away without any trouble whatsoever.
Elwell is a solid and competent boxer, but rather ominously, he has fallen short three times when stepping up a level – to then unbeaten John O’Donnell of Shepherd’s Bush (L Pts 10), 25-0 Vyacheslav Senchenko 25-0 (L TKO 2) and the powerful Ted Bami (L TKO 7). Worryingly for Elwell, it looks as though Brook may possess the talent to be even better than those three boxers.
There is no question that Elwell will have prepared well for this one and he will certainly give his all on the night as he attempts to win the coveted Lonsdale belt. However, I expect it won’t be enough against a younger, faster and more powerful boxer in Brook. Kell can take his man out before the midway point of the fight to secure another British Title defence for the 22 year old prospect.
With Brook 1/12 on to win by KO (and a staggering 1/66 to win the bout) it’s hard to find some value with the bookies but as ever, we’ve done our best and expect another winner!
