Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao - Who Wins?

I have just heard one of the biggest pieces of news that I am pretty sure that a lot of boxing fans would like to hear. Floyd Mayweather Jr. will be coming back in 2009. Rumour has it, Floyd is coming back to challenge the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, Manny Pacquiao.
It has been stated that Mayweather's cousin Janelle got a call from the fighter after Pacquiao’s impressive stoppage of De La Hoya last month. Janelle stated that Floyd wants to come back to challenge the pride of The Philippines. Floyd Mayweather Sr. also stated that he got a message from his son about training his son once more. But, Floyd Jr. will still have his uncle Roger in the corner as well. So pretty much, it will be a little family reunion.
All I want to know is if this is a fight that Mayweather really wants. Pacquiao is no pushover and he is a lot faster than Mayweather. Manny also throws a lot more punches than Mayweather Jr. The thing is that Mayweather hasn't been active since his stoppage over Ricky ‘The Hitman’ Hatton. If Mayweather were to really face Pacquiao, then surely he would need a tune up fight first.
Floyd has just been inactive for so long and Pacquiao has already had three tremendous victories this year. Since beating Oscar De La Hoya, I will guarantee that Pacquiao will be fighter of the year for 2008. Manny has gone and defeated Juan Manuel Marquez at super featherweight, took David Diaz's belt at lightweight and stopped one of the best known boxers in the history of the sport right up at welterweight. Those are the credentials of a pound for pound elite fighter and Manny did it all in a single year.
So let’s look at the analysis and see who will be able to come out of this fight with a victory. Mayweather has had trouble in the past with southpaws; he definitely had trouble when facing Zab Judah. But unlike ‘Super’ Judah, Pacquaio does not tire as the fight progresses. We will have to see the Mayweather that beat Arturo Gatti for Floyd Jr. to win this fight. If we see that, then I think that he will be able to win the fight and crush Manny Pacquiao’s adoring fans in his homeland of The Phillipines. If Mayweather catches Pacquiao with a good shot, maybe he even has the chance of finishing him off inside the distance. The way that people know when Manny Pacquiao is hurt is when he punches back recklessly – that would be a mistake against Floyd Jr.
Manny Pacquiao on the other hand needs to do what he does best—that is stay in the pocket and beat Mayweather to the punch. Manny has the hand speed to pull this off, even against a fighter as good as Floyd Jr. Also, Manny needs to throw a lot more punches than Mayweather in this fight. Manny will have to fire in flurries and not give Mayweather a second of respite throughout the whole 12 rounds. If Manny does that, he will come out with a victory. That is the only way in my mind that I think that Pacquiao could beat Mayweather Jr; by making use of his fantastic punch output and outworking Mayweather.
So who will I pick to win the fight? Right now, I think that Pacquiao has the tools to beat Floyd Mayweather Jr. by a unanimous points decision.
