Boxing Betting Tip - John Murray vs. Lee McAllister
Published January 17, 2009 by Martin Bean
In the first big British boxing cards of 2009, Manchester’s talented John Murray will take on tough Scotsman Lee McAllister in the Robin Park Centre in Wigan tonight, with the bout being televised by ITV4.
Following Murray’s sensational victory over Lee Meager last time out, when Murray was simply in sensational form, this is another opportunity for him to shine in front of a national television audience.
My only gripe with Murray is that he can be inconsistent; at times I’m so impressed with his gritty yet classy aggressive boxing style. Other times, I’m left frustrated and wondering if he really can progress beyond domestic level. In McAllister, Murray has an opponent that has operated at a level below his own, despite McAllister previously holding the WBU lightweight crown.
Expect Murray to take this fight and successfully defend his British Lightweight Title for the first time – the exact outcome will depend on which Murray shows up. If it’s the same Murray that took the title against Meager, I see a mid to late round stoppage. If it’s the frustrating and sloppy Murray, he can use his sheer determination to edge a point decision.
