On the undercard of the Kendall Holt vs. Demetrius Hopkins world title match up Atlantic City on Saturday 13th December 2008, Junior Middleweight (154lbs) prospect Yuri Foreman took on tough Irishman, James Moore over 10 rounds.
New York based Belarussian Foreman (read his recent interview with Boxing Capital here) is an astute, technical boxer and was successful in boxing his way to a clear, unanimous points decision to take his unbeaten run to 27 straight victories (8 inside the distance wins) with a sharp display of boxing.
Both fighters actually train in the same New York gym so knew each other’s style well but unfortunately for Moore (now 16-2, 10 KOs), Foreman seemed to know all the right moves to counteract Moore’s attempt to press the contest.
This win sees Foreman solidify his status as one of the best Junior Middleweight prospects and a World Title contest looks sure to happen early next year. The only thing not going for this trainee Rabbi (yes, you did read that right, Foreman is training to be a Rabbi) is that his style does not always lead to the most exciting fights, so the big television companies won’t be demanding he gets a title shot immediately.
However, if Foreman keeps winning as conclusively and impressively as he did against the capable Moore (former World Amateur Bronze Medallist) then this talented fighter surely cannot be denied his world title chance for much longer.
